So basically I give up on what in my opinion is a failure for this years manager mode.The update for all teams as of 5th April (not official EA update). It really is ridiculous, I know Portsmouth in the real world are struggling but this is not the real world, this is a game that punishes you for being too good. Even worse is that if one player gets injured now I will have to forfeit a match! Believe it or not my highest earning player only earns £60000 a week! United think the Glazers are bad! Try fifa 10! So you see because I played the game so well, managed to sign youngsters and get them to huge overalls, that instead of the game rewarding me with a bigger budget I am now totally stuck with nowhere to go. Now I am in a situation where I cannot buy or sell any players for at least two years, by which time more players will need contract renewals and I'll be back where I started with wage debt. Why on earth can't it just let me substitute £83000 or even more of my minimum of £234000 weekly profit into my wage budget? Why doesn't it let me use my £30 million budget and take it out of that to compensate? This was meant to add more realism to manager mode but it has done the complete opposite due to poor programming.Įven worse it could all be solved. Imagine the income that would generate the owner, and they would respond by giving you much greater resources. Have you ever heard of anything so stupid? Any club in the real world that one every trophy six years running should have a huge wage budget at least £600000.
Then I thought about selling one really good player rated 92 (Modric who was 28 years old and wanted to replace him with a 19 year old) I cannot sell him because I don't have enough players in the squad! How does that make sense? Some players want £200000 a week on their own! My wage budget has increased very little since the start (about £130000).īut the thing is that I signed a lot of young players to start with who are now all really good (upper eighties-nineties), and when the console automatically renews contracts you find you have a negative wage budget of £-86000! Even worse is that to try and compensate for that I sold some players and reduced it to £-83000.
Yet somehow my wage budget has hardly increased at all. I am playing as Portsmouth and have won every single compeition there is to win for the past six years. On paper it sounds like a really good idea. I am writing in my disgust of the new manager mode and its 'wage budget'.
